Gumsun means the person who reached the god’s realm in using the knife (Gum). It is the brand which designs and sells the scissors for the top hair artists from all over the world.

Motives of Design디자인의 모티브

Gumsun’s design is motivated from the design of the brilliant dagger in the Europe during the middle ages.  When closed, the handle and the blade of the scissor assemble completely just like a knife.  Although it has simple design, it shows geometrical figures, reminding the extravagance of the dagger in that era. The material (black Damascus) emphasizes the feeling of the Europe in the middle ages.

검선의 디자인은 중세시대 유럽의 화려한 단검의 디자인에서 모티브를 얻어 디자인되었습니다. 가위를 닫았을 때 칼처럼 손잡이와 날과 손잡이가 하나의 일체 된 모형으로 통일성을 갖추면서도 중세시대의 단검의 화려함을 표현하기 위해 심플하면서도 기하학적인 라인을 살려 디자인하였으며 특히 소재부분에 대한 접근에서도 전설의 블랙 다마스커스 소재를 선택하여 중세시대의 유럽의 느낌을 더욱 강조하였습니다.

Excellence of the Design디자인의 우수성

We analyzed various positions of holding the scissors when the hair designer opens and closes it, and mechanically calculated the scissor’s centrifugal power and turning power so that it is possible to swing efficiently.  Also we applied the least fractional factor to the design for the area where the scissor and the fingers meet. 

헤어 디자이너가 가위를 개폐할 때 여러가지 방법으로 가위를 잡는 포지션을 집중 분석하여 가위개폐시 가위의 원심력과 회전력을 역학적으로 계산하여 효율적인 스윙이 가능하도록 하기 위해 디자인하였으며 특히 가위를 잡는 방법에 따라 가위와 손가락과 마찰되는 부위들이 계산하여 가장 피로감이 작은 마찰계수를 적용하여 디자인 하였습니다.

Innovative Material 소재의 혁신성

The black Damascus steel material at Gumsun is forged high carbon, which Design Doo orders and uses.

The forging process starts out with 13 layers of the above listed steels and then folded 5 times to produce a high contrast 416 layer Damascus billet.

We have considered the users in choosing the four different special steel materials which comprise the black Damascus steel.

Those four steels become high carbon Damascus steel of 416 layers after 5 times of layering in 16 pieces with the traditional forged way.  With the black color in the outer surface, this black damascus steel differs from standard damascus steel.  (Since the wavy pattern differs in the hand-made process, the pattern in the picture may look different than that of the product.)

검선에 사용되는 블랙 다마스커스 강제는 단조방식(forged)의 High Carbon Damascus steel 으로디자인두에서 직접 주문하여 사용하고 있습니다.

4개의 각기 다른 특수 철강 소재를 선별하여 처음 이 4가지 철강을 16 개로 포개어 겹치고 다시 겹치는 작업을 5차례를 반복하여 416겹의 High Carbon Damascus steel 을 완성합니다.

블랙 다마스커스 강제를구성하는 각기 다른 4종류의 특수 철강 소재는 사용자를 고려하여 선정하여 구성하였습니다.

 이 4가지의 선택된 특수강제가 전통 단조 방식으로 4가지 철강을 16 개로 포개어 겹치고 다시 겹치는 작업을 5차례를 반복하여 416겹의 High Carbon Damascus steel 로 완성되며 외형에서는 블랙컬러를 가지는 명품 철강으로 일반 다마스커스 강철에서는 볼 수 없는 느낌의 명품 블랙 다마스커스가위 소재를 사용합니다.( 다마스커스 물결무늬 패턴은 수작업을 통해 제작되는 과정에서 모든 물결무늬 패턴이 일률적이지 않게 제작되므로 상품으로 보여지는 사진과 물결 무늬 패턴과 다소 차이가 있을 수 있음을 알려 드립니다.)

Creativity of the Handle 가위핸들의 창조성

The handle from Gumsun is designed to produce more than twice power with the push behind the axis with the principle of lever which overlaps in one to the joint.  So, it give much smoother feeling when opening and closing compared to the normal scissors.

검선의 손잡이는 연결다리까지 하나로 겹쳐지는 지렛대의 원리로 축의 뒤에서 눌러지는 힘이 적용되어 일반 손잡이에 비해 2배이상 힘이 발생하는 디자인으로 일반가위에 비해 상상 이상의 부드러운 개폐감을 주고 있습니다.

The integral handle is the world’s first invention by Design Doo with the same principle of seesaw palying—heavy weight raises the opposite side.  The standard handle is separated from the joint at the point of 2-3cm below the pivot screw whereas the Gumsun’s integral handle is just like pushing down at the very edge of the axis raises the opposite person.  It only requires the least force to handle the opening and closing.   

가위 손잡이가 하나의 일체형 손잡이로 디자인하는 것은 디자인두가 전세계 최초로 개발하여 만들어낸 핸들로 어린아이들이 즐겨 타는 시소(seesaw)의 타는 것과 같은 원리로 많은 무게로 눌러야지만 반대편 사람이 올라가는 원리로 일반적인 손잡이는 가위손잡이가 벌어지는 곳이 피봇나사 하단 2-3센티 하단에서 분리되었으나 검선의 일체형 손잡이의 경우 기준 축 맨 뒤에서 타서 누르는 것과 같이 적은 무게로 눌러도 반대편 사람이 올라가는 원리로 아주 적은 힘으로 가위개폐가 가능한 혁신적인 손잡이 입니다.

We installed the super-sized ultra-Kingdom special bearing on the center shaft of pivot screw that is only used in the top-class brand scissors.  Therefore, it requires less effort (over 30% of standard bearing on one back side) to handling the scissor and stays smooth because the cut hair does not get inside the pivot screw.

핵심기술의 특수성

피봇나사 중앙축에 최고급 브랜드 가위에서만 볼 수 있는 슈퍼 울트라킹덤 특수 베어링을 장착하여 기존 한쪽날 뒷면에만 들어가는 작은 베어링보다 50% 이상의 적은 힘으로도 가위개폐가 부드럽게 가능하며 모발찌꺼기가 피봇나사 안쪽으로 들어가지 않아 가위가 뻑뻑해 지지 않는 것이 특징인 미용가위 전용 특수베어링 입니다.

In 2013, Design Doo invented another new hair discharge tool. The previous hair discharge tool is attached to the scissor so it was impossible to apply that to older model or scissors of other brands.  Now we can just replace one pivot screw to discharge the hair automatically with scissors from any brands and older design as well.

디자인두에서 이전의 출시한 모발 자동 빠짐 장치들은 피봇나사(pivot screw가 아닌 가위몸체에 붙어있는 기능이라 이전 모델이나 타 회사 가위에는 적용이 불가능 한 것을 피봇나사 하나만을 바꿔 끼우면 타회사 가위나 이전 디자인두 구 모델에도 모발찌꺼기기가 자동으로 빠지는 혁신적인 피봇나사를 개발하였습니다.

This pivot screw is compatible to the scissors with bearing.  By leaning the scissor horizontally, this screw works as a discharge hole, and by holding the scissor upside down, it works as scissor hanging hole.  Haircutting scissors from Design Doo always does our best to provide the better environment and life to hair designers.
